The melodies and lyrics of most of the songs derive from the folkloric research of the Cypriot folk musician Michalis Hadjimichael in the area of Kokkinochória in the east coast of the island. in my Grandfather’s garden
many come and go
one comes in
two come in
one hundred thirty two
the rain sprinkles
the wind sweeps
the hail into white
and the walnuts pile up.

the ants come in and go out
laden with bulgur wheat
the olive tree sprints
to collect the olives and oil.
there goes the crow
with her greens
a few sticks to collect
to cook on the fire

the oven prepares to bake
and fresh bread to bake
the sun goes to shine
to see and find the cooking tools.
The night brings her goods
her table clothe
there goes the sparrow with knowledge
to lay the table

The star cuts the salad
the moon brings the plates
the glasses by the bat
and the mist the Commandaria.
There goes the bee in a rush
honey to offer
the flute to be played
the lamb to dance
