Louiza Kaimaki, born in 1976, is a Greek Cypriot visual artist and illustrator from Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.

After completing her Art and Design Foundation Course in Nicosia, she pursued her studies at the Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, graduating in 1999 with a BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation.

Returning to Cyprus after her studies, Louiza faced the challenge of establishing herself in a place where the illustration industry was still in its infancy. Despite this, she persevered and built a strong portfolio, leading to the publication of her first illustrated Children’s book, “A Fairy Tale and a Song,” in 2002, which was well-received.

Her dedication to bridging cultural divides was recognized when she won the prestigious Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou Bicommunal Award, leading to a collaboration with Turkish Cypriot writer Sezgi Yalin, resulting in a series of self-published books about the adventures of Jack the Cat.

Currently residing in The Hague with her family, Louiza draws inspiration from her everyday surroundings, particularly the stark contrasts between her two homes in the Netherlands and Cyprus. Her work, which predominantly utilizes fine brushes and water-based paints, has earned her numerous accolades, including the Literature State Prize twice by the Ministry of Culture and Education of Cyprus.

Louiza’s art has been showcased in various international exhibitions and is held in both private and public collections. She continues to collaborate with artists and writers from around the world, contributing to her growing body of work.
